REA ANN SILVA

Rea Ann Silva built her career understanding skin, color and the art of making makeup look effortless. Raised in Los Angeles, the Latina makeup artist brought her creative eye to Hollywood, earning a reputation for her work with women of color and her ability to create a natural-looking complexion across diverse skin tones.

The idea for Beautyblender emerged on the set of Girlfriends, one of the first television shows filmed in high definition. With cameras revealing every detail, Rea Ann needed a way to blend makeup seamlessly and touch up the cast without interrupting production. She began experimenting with sponges, shaping them by hand until she arrived at an edgeless, egg-shaped design.

That practical solution became an iconic beauty tool, bringing a technique developed on set into makeup bags around the world.
